Catherine Cher Hong Lan

Catherine had her art training in NIE and she used to work as an art teacher in Singapore. She had the opportunity to learn Ceramics, Painting and Colors in Mesa Community College in USA. She is very influenced by Van Gogh’s style of painting but has since developed her own.  She has had a one-man exhibition –“Her Statement” in  Picture This and That Gallery in Kuala Lumpur in 1996 and organized “Nature Speaks” in Joo Chiat Community Centre in 2008 in Singapore.

 

She works with acrylic. Her strokes were initially bold and fiery but living with a family member with schizophrenia since 1992 has impacted her art. In 2008, it was a series of flowers. Subsequently, she was only working with splashes. Then 2014 sees the start of the Lion series of which she is still actively painting them.
