About the Artist :
Shirley Ho shares her Art interest mainly through teaching Art to children, youths and adults. Her recent teaching assignments at boys’ and girls’ homes, family shelter and the special needs communities have impressed greatly upon her that Art is a wonderful channel that God has opened up many opportunities to bring His blessings to the people. Besides teaching, Shirley has also participated in many Art exhibitions and taken up commissioned projects and murals. She is seeking a teaching/Artmaking balance as God leads.

I was still in the prayer/seeking mode as I painted this lion painting… Reading up on various Biblical resources and Irene Wong’s sharing of her lion vision in the womb led to my selection of oval canvas as the backdrop, symbolizing the declaration roar that is birthing forth and resonating with many.
I portray the lion in a red fire-like image - considering the passion of Christ, my nation Singapore as Lion City (with red and white national flag) and urgency of time, entering into the year 2020 which is also the year 5780 in the Hebrew calendar. “Pey” is the Hebrew letter for the number “80”, a picture symbol of a mouth. I have learnt that in the decade to come, discerning and declaring the heart of God will be the key to building ourselves and our calling in Christ and in forwarding God’s Kingdom.
As Singapore celebrates her 55th national birthday in 2020, I would like to declare God’s great grace and goodness over Singapore as the Antioch of Asia. It is also my prayer that God’s children be living sacrifices as worship unto God, be empowered by the Holy Spirit to rise up to each own calling, using his/her gifts to bring glory to God (as seen in the yellow trail of hands moving towards the glorious cross/star, from the lion’s declaration roar)!
